Programme & Course Outcomes

Academic Quality Assurance

Programme Outcomes (POs) & Course Outcomes (COs)

Programme Outcomes and Course Outcomes define the knowledge, skills, and values students are expected to acquire by the end of a programme and each individual course within it. In line with UGC and NAAC quality-assurance norms, the college has documented POs, PSOs, and COs for every programme offered, affiliated with Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMU), Nanded.

What Are POs & COs?

Programme Outcomes (POs) describe what a student is expected to know and be able to do by the time they graduate from a programme — the cumulative knowledge, skills, and attitudes built across all years of study. Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) narrow this down to the specific discipline of the programme, such as Chemistry or Computer Science. Course Outcomes (COs) go a level deeper still, defining what a student should be able to do after completing one individual paper or course.

Why They Matter

Outcome-based education helps students understand the purpose behind every course they take, gives faculty a clear benchmark for curriculum design and assessment, and forms a core criterion in NAAC's institutional accreditation framework. Mapping POs, PSOs, and COs against actual teaching and assessment practices is central to the college's continuous quality-improvement process.

The complete set of POs, PSOs, and COs for every programme and course offered by the college — spanning Arts, Science, Commerce, and co-curricular activities such as NSS, Cultural, and Sports — is compiled in a single reference document, available in the "Document" tab.

Programme Outcomes (POs) and Course Outcomes (COs) for All Programmes Offered by the Institution

Programme Outcomes, Programme Specific Outcomes, and Course Outcomes for every UG & PG programme, elective, and value-added course offered by the college — compiled as per NAAC criterion 2.6.1.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

The overall knowledge, skills, and values a student gains by completing an entire degree programme, common across the discipline.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

Outcomes unique to a particular subject or department — e.g. what a Chemistry or Computer Science graduate specifically gains.

Course Outcomes (COs)

The specific abilities and understanding a student should demonstrate after completing one individual paper or course.

Outcome Mapping

COs are mapped to PSOs, and PSOs to POs, so every paper a student studies visibly contributes to the programme's larger goals.

Continuous Assessment

Attainment of outcomes is tracked through internal assessments, practicals, and examinations across every semester.

NAAC Criterion 2.6.1

Documented POs and COs, communicated to students and faculty, form a key quality-assurance metric under NAAC assessment.

POs, PSOs, and COs have been defined for the following programmes, subjects, and co-curricular activities. Refer to the full document for detailed, paper-wise outcomes.
